Sheep blood is added to demonstrate hemolytic reactions and supplies the X factor (heme) necessary for the growth of many pathogenic species. It is widely suitable for use in industrial laboratories. On this medium, colonies tend to be larger and growth is more luxuriant than on media containing other blood agar bases. Our sheep blood is extracted from our own farm in a sterile condition to reduce contamination for microbiological need. Each sheep blood is packed in a sterile glass bottle or ISO grade blood bag with anticoagulant preservative solution, sealed and pouched.
